This search engine provides private search of articles on cambridgeclarion.org without sending any information to third parties and without keeping any record. And without javascript.
It searches for exact matches, with the exceptions of case, accents and the wildcard described below. The search term “tree” will not match “trees”. But a search for “vancura” will match “Vančura” and vice-versa. An article in the results matches all the search terms. The order of the search terms in the query makes no difference.
A search term is a sequence of digits and letters, including non-English letters. The engine rejects other characters, with the exception of the two special characters described next.
A search term with a leading minus sign will take away from the results every article that contains a matching word.
A search term with a trailing wildcard *, will match any word that starts with the same sequence of characters. For example “van*” would match “van”, “vans”, “Vanunu”, “Vančura” and so on. The wildcard can be only at the end of the word. You can combine this with the minus sign, for example “-car*”.
The search engine is based on free, open-source software called Hyper Estraier, which was distributed under the GNU Lesser General Public License. The original headers in the C source code read “Copyright (C) 2004-2007 Mikio Hirabayashi”. Here it has been customised for cambridgeclarion.org.
